Art is a vibrant landscape between the question “Why?” and the exciting reality “I don’t know.” It is where ideas, emotions, and experiences can be explored, deconstructed, and some form of new knowledge produced.
“Whether I am constructing or documenting performances, investigating the world through photo, or expressing emotion through 2D mediums, my work is rooted in the exploration of intuition, chance, and collaboration.” — Jonathan Marrs
Video Art & Filmmaking
As both a director and documentarian, my video work spans genres from art film to documentary. At times humorous or paradoxical, my films investigate how social power influences identity, masculinity, and adolescence.

Photography
My interest in crafting images began in my twenties when I was awakened to the world through travel. Trips to Nepal and Thailand had me reaching for my camera again and again in an attempt to describe the awe and adventure of experiencing the diverse and vast world that we live in. Decades later, my photography is still rooted in curiosity, reflection, and the power of storytelling.
